Personal Training in South London

Personal Training gives you expert fitness guidance from a certified professional, alongside structured, personalised workout routines and seriously supportive motivation.

I am able to combine my experience as a Personal Trainer with my expertise in Sports Therapy and Injury Prevention / Rehabilitation to structure an effective fitness plan and provide the motivation and accountability you need to succeed.

I’ve been working as a Personal Trainer for over 8 years now, but have studied Sports Development and Nutrition for over a decade.

During Personal Training sessions I focus on understanding you, your body, your habits and the type of exercise that works best for you - every body is different, and my training reflects that. Working together, we’ll establish a baseline, set goals, monitor progress and plan for the future both in terms of gym programmes and nutritional advice.

I’d highly recommend Tom for PT!

I’ve been doing small group training with him for 5 years but more recently one on one sessions to aid recovery after an operation. I’ve never been fitter.

He makes sure that you are doing every exercise properly, mixes up the exercises to keep it interesting, and encourages you to keep pushing yourself.

Most importantly, he makes it fun!

FAQs: What Can You Expect?

  • After registering your interest, I’ll give you a call at a time that suits to introduce myself and book you in for an initial assessment session. I’ll also send you across a pre-exercise questionnaire, which will help me better understand your current situation, and fitness goals.

Your first session starts with an informal chat about your questionnaire allowing me to fully understand what you want to achieve and the quickest way for me to get you there.

After the initial chat we’ll work through a movement assessment, which allow me to review how you move and see if there are any restrictions or injuries I will need to take into consideration when writing your exercise programme.

Once we have you moving we’ll then finish the session with a few quick initial strength tests to see what your current levels are, which give us something to refer back to, and use as a baseline to monitor your progress.

This first session normally takes between 45 - 60 minutes to complete and aims to leave you feeling happy with the personal training process and all your questions answered.

  • Your end goals will determine the way we train together, however the majority of our sessions will be based on improving your strength, mobility and conditioning. Each session will be 60 minutes long, and I will work with you to find the perfect time in your schedule to train.

I work with people of all fitness levels and no matter where you start from, using a good amount of common sense coupled with my training and experience, your training and programming will not only be adapted to your ability, but will be formulated to suit your body type for maximum results.

We’ll work on using progressive resistance training, focusing on being able to move the way we were built to by being able to handle our own body weight in all planes of movement. I like to focus on keeping my training simple and the formats varied. I figure that the easier the programming is for you to follow, the more effective it will be.

Thanks to my trusty cargo bike, we are able to use a whole range of equipment during our sessions, ranging from Kettle Bells, Medicine Balls and TRX Suspension Trainers, to Sandbags, Battle Ropes, Tyres and Parallets (to name but a few!).

  • Now, whilst I would obviously like to be by my clients’ sides 24/7, in the absence of any reliable commercial form of human cloning I have employed a nutrition and diet monitoring methodology which is both free from fad diet tips and confusing information.

With my post-graduate background in Applied Sports Nutrition and years’ of hands-on experience with clients of all walks of life, I will take a holistic, balanced view of your eating habits and, working with you and any dietary requirements you may have, provide you with nutritional advice and support that will not only leave you feeling more energised, but will also make your training more effective and will completely support your training goals.

Through weekly monitoring and mini goal-setting we will take a measured approach to improving your diet, making it simple and straight-forward for you to follow and improve. I’ve also heard from my clients that not only have they seen great weight and tone results by updating their diet, but are also saving both time in the kitchen and money by meal planning, which are definitely two added benefits!

If you are consistent with your training and diet (we’re talking months and years, not days and weeks) achieving your goals is inevitable, and we’ll have set you up with a habit for a lifetime.
